Things to see at Stranraer Museum

The location of Stranraer Museum itself is historic. Taking residence in the town hall in George Street, it sits within a building which was built in 1776. Inside there are many fascinating tools from years gone by, including objects from prehistoric times. The earliest evidence we have of people living in the south west of Scotland is from around 9,000 years ago. We have carved stone crosses from around 1,000 years ago, and more recent evidence of habitation including maps from the 17th century.

The museum is deceptively large, so do make sure you reserve enough time to see it all.
