History of Dunskey Castle

Once the site of a medieval fort, destroyed by fire during a battle in 1489. The current tower house dates from 1510 and was built for the Adairs of Kinhilt, who also built the Castle of St John in Stranraer. Extended in the 1620s, it was derelict by 1684. The three-storey structure stands in a strategic position right at the edge of the cliff, with a watch tower overlooking the Irish Sea. Even though the interior is out of bounds, this is a dramatic and imposing structure to view from the outside.

Wow. What a place. Pure luxury. Loved all the wee welcome touches. Hot tub was superb basked and watched a movie on the projector. Fire pit was an added bonus. Used the pizza oven also. Had a great time. Will definitely be back.
