Things to do with your dog

There are lots of beautiful gardens, beaches and attractions to explore with your dog during a visit to Dumfries and Galloway. Here are some of our favourite places to walk and visit, all within an hour’s drive of our glamping site:

Larbrax Bay – The beach at Larbrax near Portpatrick is a lovely, quiet place to take your dog. It’s great for walks and paddling!

Cockle Shore – This dog-friendly beach near Stranraer is a good place for bird watching. Named so because it is covered in cockles and other seashells.

Marine Lake – Enjoy a walk along Marine Lake promenade with your dog and watch the boats coming in and out of the harbour. There’s a park area here that’s good for picnics.

Ardwell Bay – Walk along the coastline to Doon Broch and enjoy the beautiful remote bay, dramatic scenery and maybe even dolphins and seals in the water.

Glenwhan Gardens – These spectacular gardens offer views unique over the waters to the Isle of Man, Luce Bay and the Mull of Galloway. There are ponds, sculptures, trails and hidden treasures. Dogs on leads are welcome in the gardens and tearoom.

Galloway Forest Park – Plenty of popular dog walks are available in this picturesque forest park. Look out for local wildlife including deer and red squirrels.
